Nonc (uncle) Allie Young
Born May 3, 1912 in Basile, Louisiana
Began playing the accordion at age 8.
Began playing Bal de maison (house dances) at age 10.
Played four years with the Frugé Family Band.
Played seven years with the Balfa Brothers Band.
Played four tours of Canada with D.L. Menard.
Toured France in 1975 and 1977 with the Balfa Brothers.
Played a world tour for the U.S. State Department in 1980 performing in Japan, Tailand, Burma, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Oman, Cairo, and Italy. Also performing on this tour were the Whites and Ricky Skaggs.
Organized his present band, The Basile Cajun Band, in 1984.
Recorded an album in French in 1975.
Recorded "Two Steppin with Nonc Allie" in 1990.
Recorded "Allons Danser Avec Nonc Allie" in 1992.
Recorded seven songs on a CD "Ray Landry and the Basile Cajun Band with Nonc Allie Young."
