Belton was born October 5, 1939, in the city of Rayne, Louisiana.

I started playing professionally at the age of 12 with "Neg" Halloway and the Rayne Playboys. I played with Neg for about three years, and then I started playing with my dad. At the time I was playing the drums.

When I reached the age of 15 or 16, I wanted to do something different; I formed a Rock-n-Roll band. The name of the band was" Belton and the French Rockers." I kept that band for about four years.

Well, that was not my thing, so I went back to Cajun music and formed the band, Belton and the Musical Aces. My band had five musicians, but soon I expanded the band to seven. I was the only Cajun to have a seven-piece band.

I recorded five albums, seventy-two singles and three CDs. I quit when I was 47 years old. I was burned-out

Nine and a half years later, I went back to playing Cajun music, by popular demand. I cut a new CD called; "I’m Back". On that CD I wrote nine new songs. I had numerous hit songs that I’m very proud of.
