Rodney was born July 27, 1935, in Church Point, Louisiana and was raised on a farm. He always liked Cajun music and was inspired by his cousin, the late Ira LeJeune. At the age of 17 Rodney started playing music with his uncle, Steven LeJeune, and played with other bands for four years.
At the age of 21, Rodney left Louisiana and moved to Texas. On July 13, 1957, he started playing more Cajun music with Andrew Cormier. He cut his first record in Port Arthur, Texas at KPAC Radio Station, "La Valse de Misère." He later made "La Valse des Musicien" and "Je Suis Pas à Blâmer" and the " Wedding March" followed by many others.
Rodney has been playing Cajun music for 38 years and has played with many great musicians such as Andrew Cormier, Joe Bonsall, Mark Savoy, the late Paul Dugas, Chris Miller, Buford Galley and many others.
He is married lives in Nederland, Texas, and presently plays music with the band known as Pat Savant, Rodney LeJeune and the Texas Cajun Playboys.
